Fighting and Finance: A Boxer's Story
Making the time to earn your degree and pursue other non-academic passions can be challenging. A boxing Olympian managed to earn his finance degree while training for the ring.
Training to become a world-class boxer is a full-time job. Calvin Brock made the U.S. Olympic Team while holding down a "second" job in finance. He was recently interviewed by Doghouse Boxing, a website dedicated to the sport, and mentioned how his finance degree program helped him become a better boxer.
Degree Programs Teach Discipline and Time Management
The sport of boxing requires excellent conditioning and mental toughness. Brock learned a lot about how to focus and work hard while enrolled in a finance degree program in North Carolina. Balancing physical training with school taught him to make the most out of the little time he had to train. Those time management skills still come in handy for Brock as a professional boxer.
Online Degree Programs Make the Balancing Act Easier
If you need to balance school with something else that matters deeply to you, make it easier on yourself by enrolling in an online degree program. Online degree programs are designed for people who need a lot of academic flexibility. Many online degree students have to balance full-time jobs, parenthood, and yes--athletic training.
Although your time constraints may not be caused by an Olympic training regimen, they may be just as inflexible. If you can't attend college full-time, think about enrolling in an online degree program. Once you earn your degree, you to can rack up a KO by beating the competition and landing your first job.
