Hong Kong Meets Hollywood -- Martial Law Director Opens Film School

New Film School will open in Hong Kong

There was a recent report in the Associated Press that announced the opening of a film school in Hong Kong. The school is the brainchild of Hong Kong director Stanley Tong, who is known for the TV series Martial Law, and Rumble in the Bronx, starring Jackie Chan. Tong reportedly wants to combine the video producing abilities of Hong Kong, Mainland China, and Hollywood, so that graduates can take on "any projects." The opening of this new film school is estimated to cost tens of millions of dollars.

Film School Provides Comprehensive Education

Luckily, if you're an aspiring film director, there are a number of film schools and film production colleges within America's borders. There are many great New York and California film schools, but if you live in other areas of the country, you'll be able to get your degree in other, more local schools. Students enrolled in film school learn about the many different aspects of film making, including plot, cinematography, casting, production, special effects, and music, among many other areas.

Earn credit for your Film Degree Online

If you can't afford to leave your job to go back to school full-time, you can easily take some classes that will count towards a degree in film online through a distance learning college. Online schools specialize in tailoring courses for working professionals, and most of them are accredited by the same associations that accredit traditional schools. These similar accreditations make it easier to transfer credit from an online school to another institution.
