Interior Design Accreditation Gets a Boost
The Angelo Donghia Foundation recently gave The Council for Interior Design Accreditation $250,000 to help the organization extend its interior design accreditation services.
The Angelo Donghia Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Donghia, a large furniture manufacturer. They of course support the interior design profession, because interior designers encourage people to buy furniture. Over the years, the interior design industry has tried to help distinguish its professionals by establishing interior design certification programs. Accredited certification programs help interior designers build their professional reputations. Those with a certification can prove to clients that they have been through a rigorous interior design training program.
Accreditation Validates Interior Design Programs
The Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) is the non-profit organization that sets the criteria for what it takes to earn an accredited interior design degree or certification. This body must continuously reevaluate accreditation criteria as the market changes, and these organizational changes cost money. By supporting CIDA, Donghia is helping expand the number of accredited interior design programs, and thus helping the industry as a whole.Don't Forget About Online Interior Design Degrees
For those interested in earning college degrees in interior design, there are accredited programs at both traditional schools and through distance learning colleges. Many students choose to earn an online degree in interior design so that they can work while going to school. If you are interested in an online interior design degree program, check to see if it has been accredited by CIDA. If it is not accredited, you may want to keep looking.Source:
