Last week, a very unfortunate incident happened in my apartment block. There was a murder committed, and I was involved in the criminal investigation. I was interviewed as I had been in my apartment at the time of the murder, and I found that I knew one of the crime scene technicians.
Study whenever you have the time and earn a degree that will get you a better job from University of Phoenix Online.
Enter the Crime Scene Technician
I subsequently had a conversation with my crime scene technician acquaintance about the incident; although he did not reveal the particular circumstances of the murder in my apartment block, we did talk about his work, what his role is in investigations, and how he became a crime scene technician.
I was fascinated to hear that crime scene investigation is a team effort with a whole variety of technicians and investigators gleaning information about specialty areas in an investigation. My acquaintance specialized in collecting and preserving physical evidence at the scene of the crime, and I was amazed to find out what a skilled and complex job this is.
As he commented, modern crime investigation is a matter of skilled observation, pure slog and very few intuitive leaps. No such thing as Sherlock Holmes in modern crime investigation.
A Criminal Justice Degree Supplies Knowledge and Skills
His training was really interesting; he had joined the police after high school, but had studied for a criminal justice degree during his training period.
He studied part time, in a traditional classroom study mode, but he commented that many people now gained their criminal justice degree online, studying while they were committed to a full-time job. He said that his criminal justice degree had been the basis of his work, and was invaluable, eventually leading to his promotion.
You will be pleased to note that I am not writing this from a jail cell; my interview was routine, and no suspicion fell on me. Good job really, as I had absolutely no alibi.
