Mechanic Lands NASCAR Job based on Superior Auto Mechanic Training

John Lach started his auto mechanic training at a two year technical college in Wisconsin. After many years of paying his dues on the car racing circuit, he eventually landed himself a job as co-truck chief for the 2 ASE Dodge NASCAR team. Lach attributes much of his success to ambition and the skills he learned while at auto mechanic school.

Auto Mechanic School a Good Fit for Lach

While at auto mechanic school, Lach was part of a co-op program that placed him in a car dealership part time. He claims that this educational setup really helped him learn at a quick pace. He would learn something in class, and then would have to work on that same thing at the dealership under the supervision of a certified mechanic. After becoming certified in a number of automotive fields, such as brakes, transmission, etc., Lach teamed up with a local Wisconsin racecar driver and helped soup up his car during his spare time. Lach then connected with a friend of his father's and ended up volunteering for a NASCAR team. This exposure to NASCAR eventually landed him a job.
