Falling Into Fashion Design
Dieter Kirkwood is an emerging fashion designer out of Chicago. His story is like many others in this business. He started out as most high-school graduates do, by going to college to earn a business degree. Ultimately, the allure of the road and rock and roll lured him away from college with his band. While playing with the band, Dieter took up sculpture. While learning the art of sculpture, he took a course in fashion design and has never looked back.
Kirkwood's story is like many others in the fashion design industry. High-school guidance counselors seldom advise kids to go into alternative fields that may prove to be financially risky. Kirkwood essentially floated between things he liked to do until he finally landed on fashion design.
