Dental Obituary Shows Compassion

Stephanie Sebastian graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Dental School at the top of her class, and scored highest among her classmates on the state board examination. After graduating from her dental degree program, she went on to open her own dental practice in Duquesne, and practiced there until her building was torn down in 1963.

Sebastian's son was interviewed by the paper for her obituary. He said that she was full of compassion, and would often not charge those in financial straights. In her early years, she charged only $2 per filling, and would often be amazed at what dentists charged today.
