Survivor Participant Leaves Nursing Career for Guatemala's Rainforests
The latest 16 castaways are stranded deep in Guatemala amidst rainforsts and the ruins of the ancient Mayan civilization. The contestants come from diverse backgrounds, from nursing to real- estate careers, to compete for a million dollars.
Rainforest Nurse
Survivor Guatemala features another broad range of people competing against each other. This group includes Margaret Bobonich, a Family Nurse Practitioner. The Ohio nurse brings a strong knowledge of health concerns and how to treat ailments, which could help her tribe overcome health mishaps that mount along the way.Nursing Education
Bobonich was a nursing student at colleges in South Carolina and then West Virginia. She used her nursing education to work in emergency and aeromedical nursing. Aeromedical nursing is the study and treatment of disease associated with atmospheric or space flight, and she worked in that field and emergency nursing for 16 years. In 1998, she earned her master's degree to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. Bobonich works in private practice, as well as at free clinic settings, helping people who could not otherwise afford health care.Nursing Students and an Online Degree
There are certainly no guarantees that a nursing education will get you on a reality TV show, but if you're after a rewarding health-care career, then becoming a nursing student and earning an online degree is definitely a good move. An online degree in nursing will give you the flexibility to study when you have the time. As a nursing student, you could earn an online degree as an RN or in forensic nursing, to name two options. While you won't have to outwit or outplay anybody in your nursing education, you will have a chance to win big by getting into a career you love and helping people to heal.
