From an AIDS Treatment Activist to a director for the National Council for Research on Women, you can, believe it or not, have a lucrative career in a nonprofit organization. Studies show that an MBA degree is a great way to get your foot in the nonprofit sector door.
Don't Overlook Nonprofit Organizations
You may have always thought that you couldn't have a booming career in a nonprofit sector. Although the work seemed appealing and fulfilling, you probably thought the salary wasn't ideal. According to Fortune Magazine, the nonprofit division expanded to 1.2 million organizations--over 10 percent of the total job market. What's more, the nonprofit sector had a whopping $600 billion in revenues over the past ten years. A nonprofit executive can earn well over $100,000.
MBA for Nonprofit
Ready to launch a business career in the nonprofit sector? Earning your MBA may be the best way for you to get your foot in the door. The nonprofit sector has created a strong job market for MBA graduates. According to Fortune Magazine, Josh Ruxin, director of Columbia University's Access Project says, "I always put resumes with an MBA or business experience ahead of those with strictly not-for-profit experience. With the advent of enormous new sources of funding, operational talent is increasingly what is most needed. In order to create sustainable change, ideals alone are inadequate. You need business smarts and experience."
Earn an Online MBA Degree
An online MBA degree will not only help you acquire business smarts and experience, it will allow you the flexibility to create your own schedule during your education. Without having to commute to and from a traditional classroom, you'll also be able to get in some extra volunteering hours, improving your community while you get your degree. With your MBA degree, a job in a nonprofit organization is a fulfilling and great career choice.
