Build Your Career with Computer Certification

Computer certification has become a necessity for anyone who is building a career in IT, especially at technician level.

Get the skills you need with University of Phoenix - the number one choice for working professionals.

Employers use certification as a way of assessing the level of skills and experience of an IT professional, allowing them to recruit from an appropriate pool of experience without having to work out for themselves the real expertise of each individual.

IT technicians have taken to the idea of computer certification because they see this as a way of accurately assessing and documenting their abilities and skills levels, and thus giving them opportunities to build a career ladder that will take them to the maximum level of their capabilities.

A+ Certification vs Other Computer Certification

So what is A+ certification, and how do you go about acquiring it? CompTIA (the Computer Technology Industry Association) introduced A+ certification as an independent means of assessing IT skills of the individual, and making sure that they had attained certain levels of skills and experience. This assessment is made by publishing a syllabus, and then examining candidates on their knowledge of the areas of knowledge and skills on the syllabus. A+ training is provided by a number of different training organizations that have been approved by CompTIA.

You can use your A+ certification all over the country, and indeed all over the world. The great advantage of A+ certification over most other kinds of computer certification is that because it is not tied to one manufacturer of software, for example Microsoft, you can use it in computer installations that use any kind of software.

Your skills are judged on the generic functions of the software you are using, as opposed to the specific operational instructions of one particular type of software.

A+ Training for Your Continued Career Prospects

Your computer certification needs to be kept up to date, and you can do this by revising the knowledge you need, doing some A+ training (you could study this online) and sitting a re-examination every three years. The effort is really worthwhile, as A+ certification increases your promotional and new job prospects.
